Q. Are there any plans to release “Han Solo and the Lost Legacy Sourcebook”, a starfighter guide, and a “Lando Calrissian Sourcebook”?
A. This question was asked of Bill Smith some time ago, and here is the response that I received: “Lost Legacy” is on the schedule for 97. What’s the deal, you ask. Eric Trautmann — Last Command and Bakura Sourcebooks — REALLY wants to work on this one and, well, he’s worth the wait. Lando is a “back-up” book and we’re waiting for a first draft before proceeding further. A starfighter specific book is not on the schedule now. [ed. I needed that bit of news like an eighth hole in the head]
The new updated response from Tim O’Brien is: Han Solo and the Lost Legacy Sourcebook – Eventually
A Starfighter Guide – Eventually
Lando Calrissian Sourcebook – Probably not Q. Are there any plans for revising Cracken’s Rebel Field Guide for 2nd Edition?
A. No. Virtually all of that material has already been updated in assorted places. The only rules that were rendered somewhat obsolete were the cybernetics rules which were revised in Fantastic Technology. Q. Is there a Dark Empire II sourcebook coming out anytime soon?
A. Eventually, mainly because there’s a fair amount of demand for it. Q. Are there any plans to release a Rogue Squadron Sourcebook? If there are, will any rules for starfighter modifications be included in the sourcebook?
A. The X-wing sourcebook is currently being written by Eric Trautmann and should be out in spring. Q. Will there be any other Classic Adventure Volumes being released (e.g. Black Ice, Isis Co-Ordinates, Star Fall, maybe an Otherspace Trilogy with a newly added episode 3)?
A. Classic Adventures 5, with Starfall, Strike Force: Shantipole, and Game Chambers of Questal, will be out early 1998. Q. Will WEG publish a set of “closer-to-life” Rebel SpecForces stats, or are they bound by what’s in the Rebel Alliance Sourcebook? They could, after all, say that those are just line troops, and select SpecForces operatives for high risk missions have higher stats. (Since they repeated the Rebel SB stats in RoE: Rebel SpecForces SB).
A. It says very plainly in RoE that the stats given are minimums. Q. Where can I find the statistics for the Bothan race which has been updated for Revised and Expanded?
A. The Bothans will be in the Aliens Compendium, which is out in the early part of ‘98 Q. What are the abilities that Ooryl (the Gand from the Rogue Squadron Novels) displays when regenerating?
A. Mike Stackpole and I worked out a bit more on the Gand and their abilities while we were working on the Rogue Squadron Sourcebook. We decided that as Gand findsmen progress in their skills, they take ritual chemical baths, genetic manipulation sessions, and so on. That’s why Ooryl can see at night, punch through stormtrooper armor and regenerate lost limbs. Since Ooryl is one of the few Gand who has served with the Alliance, they are still somewhat mysterious and much about them remains unknown. It should be noted that other Gand findsmen feel that these ritual “enhancements” are dishonorable and therefore refuse to use them. More will be revealed when the Rogue Squadron Sourcebook is released.
