Firstly, let me thank all of you who have said kind words about Secrets of the Sisar Run. I know Craig and I had a good time during this forced collaborative effort.
Having finally had a chance to glance through Secrets of the Sisar Run, I thought I would share some insight about its inception, and expose errors or changes that may affect how you play this supplement.
My finished manuscript was turned in on February of this year. At the time, the book was called Black Sun Adventures, and then became known as Underworld Adventures, and finally, Secrets of the Sisar Run. Craig Carey wrote the majority of chapters one and two, with only some minor additions of my own. Shane Hensley wrote working outlines for the adventures, which I then fleshed out to the completed forms. Among my additions were tying Shane’s “generic” details into existing Star Wars lore, such as including characters revealed in the Decipher card game, bringing back Sedri, and finally showing the StarWing fighter.
There are a couple of notable errors in the final version, that I’m sure most gamemasters can work around. But to answer questions that some of you may hand, I’ve instead chosen to go through them. INTRODUCTION & CHAPTER 1: INTOTHESHADOWS
pg 2 – The characters in the intro, Pyrron Nox and Faris, were originally Pyrron and Gideon from the Shape Shifters story in Journal #12. No idea why they changed it.
Pg 6 – In the original manuscript, Klirun was a Kintan Strider. For those of you interested, this is how it appeared: Klirun Type: Kintan Strider DEXTERITY 3D PERCEPTION 3D
Search 4D STRENGTH 4D
Brawling 5D, regeneration 6D Special Abilities: Regeneration: Kintan Striders heal at an extremely accelerated rate. Striders roll to regenerate after being wounded using their regeneration skill rather than their Strength attribute, but in game terms turn days into hours. For example, a wounded Strider should roll after three standard hours instead of three standard days to determine healing progress. Further, the creature’s condition cannot worsen (and mortally wounded Striders cannot die by rolling low). Move: 12 Size: 1.3 meters Capsule: Klirun is one of the few Kintan Striders remaining. Extinct on their native Kintan (the Nikto homeworld), the ferocious, hulking humanoid species has only continued to exist as a result of their being a popular guard pet among Hutt clans throughout the galaxy. Kintan striders appear to be pink, pudgy and therefore harmless creatures, but they are actually extremely ferocious beasts. Klirun was adopted by Shotarr Kass as a pup and has since become a loyal companion and protector. CHAPTER 2: THESISARRUN
pg 24. In Craig’s original manuscript, Kilon Tarlot was named Tilon Karlot.
Pg 26. In the original manuscript, the Sulorine sector was intended to be the Suolriep sector, mentioned (among other places) in the Decipher card game. That is why General Willard is mentioned here, since his card establishes his ties with Suolriep sector command. CHAPTER 3: RUNNINGTHESISAR
Pg 34. The book describes the map as having each square … represent 5 space units – only the map was printed with a grid! My original sketch was on grid paper, and each ship fits snugly in a grid square. That might give you an idea of how big this area is supposed to be.
The map may look a bit unclear at first/ The concentric waves emanating from the com-sat are the communications difficulties getting EASIER. The other waves are the piloting difficulties getting HARDER. CHAPTER 7: SEDRIINTRIGUE
Pg 75. The map erroneously refers to Ket Maliss as Ket Maho. I don’t know why. CHAPTER 8: CODEBREAKER.
pg. 90 – The Yen 2 Ruins map can be a bit confusing since nothing is there to indicate the proper placement of the control tower and the reactor room. They are not meant to be in the mountains. They are put there as a cut-away view. The control room is atop the docking bay, and the reactor room is below it. »»» SPOILERWARNING ««« Those Not Wishing To Learn The End Of this Book Do Not Read Further…
This is the most disheartening error. The explanation of what is going on gets garbled in the page break. Here is the original paragraph as it appeared in the manuscript.

The scheming Vigo Green hatched a plan that would rid not only Vigo Sprax of his power, but also many other of his enemies. So secretive was this plan that not even Puln knew. Green had his expert slicers concoct a false list of power, an ersatz organizational structure of Black Sun and he unleashed this list in Vigo Sprax’s territory.
The slicers had made the list volatile, so that it could only be scanned a handful of times and could not be copied. In a short while, the list would deteriorate to so much garbled data. When Green’s spies told him of a disgruntled miner in the Sisar Run, sick of paying protection money yet sitting on a doonium-mine, Green saw his in.
He approached Barani, offering him a deal. Green explained that Sprax ran XTS and Jatayus Outbound, and that if Barani gave Green a cut of the doonium profit, the Vigo would be able to make it so that the miner would never have to pay XTS or Jatayus again, make a handsome profit, and retire somewhere safe and sunny. All Barani had to do was give the list to the Empire. The Imperials would scan the disk once, watch the data fall apart, and pull what they could to destroy the criminals found therein most of them Green’s enemies.
But Green made several errors. He had not counted on Barani separating the list into two files. He had not counted on Barani skipping out on his Black Sun protection money a month early. He had not counted on Sprax’s mercs double-crossing him and stealing the list. He had not counted on the list becoming such a popular item.
In desperation, Green sent a number of agents to hunt for the list and destroy it and the other Black Sun team aboard the station. Green hopes that word of this rather public failure has yet to reach Prince Xizor, before the human can rectify the situation himself. (((End sidebar)))
