STAR WARS: The Moon Swing Chronicles
Rebel Pilot (Lieutenant)
Kyan was born on Kamino, the water world of Kaminoans who were classed as some of the best cloners in the galaxy. Much like his father, Kyan had a knack for military tactics, and commenced his duty in Imperial Military upon graduating from high school at age 17.
The name DeGritz held great weight, for his father was a masterful tactician, who applied brutal cunning with a flair for destruction. From a distance, Admiral DeGritz guided his son’s career, placing him in dangerous situations, having little regard for his own son’s life. Kyan however, was more than a survivor and was one of the Empire’s shining stars, and was even promoted to an officer during his time at academy. That was until he realised that the Empire was nothing that an evil organisation and that all that he had ever loved, was a lie.
After his son’s initial training, Admiral DeGritz wanted Kyan to serve at his side, and it was not long after his graduation from the Imperial Academy that Kyan was transferred to the Star Destroyer Relentless.
Kyan hasd already become an amazing pilot and had attained the rank of Lieutenant for bravery in combat, and his tactical knowledge. However, Kyan’s career came to an abrupt halt when he was framed for the deaths of several Imperial Officers who were visiting the Relentless.
Kyan had been questioning his motives for being with the Empire for years, but knew that something was not right. Why had he been set up?
Kyan was subsequently arrested and placed in an Imperial detention facility to await transport to the Spice Mines of Kessel. Stripped of his rank, and all that he held dear, Kyan’s father was the last to see him before he was thrown in his cell. His father spoke of honour, and duty to the Empire, but Kyan had seen all that he needed to see. Kyan’s father washed his hands of him that day, and claimed that he no longer had a son.
Kyan was later collected by a prison transport. Whilst on the transport, Kyan met a Rodian who had been captured while attempting to steal valuable data from the Empire (Bordo), a female Cyborg arrested on trumped up charges for murder (Imala Heslock), a middle age female who called herself Lens who claimed to have been arrested for treason (Lens Rekeene), and a mercenary arrested for gun running (Rala).
While enroute to Kessel, the transport was attacked by an unknown force. During the fight, the power in the ship went down, allowing Kyan, Rala, Imala, Bordo and Lens to escape from custody. The group fought their way to the hanger, but during the fight, debris fell on Lens. Kyan and the others attempt to move the debris, but found they could not. In her last breath, Lens told Kyan to find the X-Wing that she was captured in which had been brought aboard the transport. She pleaded with him to take the ship and hide it until he was able to contact Rebel sympathisers.
Kyan agreed, and the group managed to get to the hanger where they found a transport containing the X-Wing fighter Lens had mentioned. The group fought their way aboard and hijacked the ship. Whilst fleeing, their ship was also attacked. The ship sustained heavy damage, however Kyan was able to pilot the ship to the safety of hyperspace. The crew found that the hyperdrive was leaking and their only safe bet was to take the ship as far as it would go. That was found to be the remote system of Tatooine.

After his experience there, Kyan travelled to Sedesia, a world which he thought was far enough out of the way, that he would be less likely to be found. A place where he could stop and think.
While there, Kyan hid the X-wing from the prying eyes of the community. Kyan worked for a few farmers, flying crop dusters. Over time, Kyan forgot the war against the Rebellion. Perhaps this was where he would settle down and start a family of his own, and forget that he was a DeGritz. Unfortunately, the war was never far away.
A year or so later, am unusual plague hit the world’s populace, but for some reason, Kyan was not affected. It was at that moment, that the Empire showed up, but not to subjugate the planet – but to cure the population of this plague. Had everything that had happened before been in a bad dream? What had Kyan missed while he was away? Kyan was confused, and watched the Empire from afar, gathering intelligence and keenly observing the Imperial’s movements. More importantly, Kyan was on his guard, for he knew that if the Empire got wind of his presence, his father would be there within days to finish what he had sent the T.I.E.s to do to the transport that was carrying him to Kessel.
The Empire soon quarantined the planet, and Kyan was trapped. Kyan managed to become acquainted with a rebel cell on the planet. A few months passed, and those that Kyan had befriended were either dead from the effects of the plague, or had been captured. Kyan knew there was nothing there for him, and he returned to the X-Wing and fled the planet, but not before being forced to engage several T.I.E. fighters in the process.
Kyan quickly dispatched them, but not before sustaining heavy damage. Kyan then set coordinates that he had previously found in the X-Wing’s R2 Unit and arrived soon after in the midst of the Home fleet.
