SUMMARY:

After returning to the Home Fleet, Rebel sympathiser, and Thermal Force’s newly found friend Kyan DeGritz is arrested after the head of security finds information aboard Kyan’s X-Wing which implicates him in the murder of Lens Rekeene, the co-founder of the Fakir Sector Force. It is here that Kyan relates a tale of heroism and sacrifice which clears his name, and explains the beginnings of one of the Rebellion’s most deadly foes – LUMIYA…

STORY:

Event: Kyan is imprisoned on large transport headed for Kessel. Kyan explains that he was placed aboard after being blamed for the death of 5 Imperial Officials.

Event: While aboard, Kyan meets a Rodian captured while attempting to steal valuable data from the Empire (Bordo), a female Cyborg arrested on trumped up charges for murder (Imala Heslock), a female arrested for treason (Lens Rekeene), and a mercenary arrested for gun running (Rala). During the trip, the ship is attacked. Kyan, Rala, Imala, Bordo and Lens escape from custody, fighting their way to the hanger. During the battle, debris falls on Lens. Kyan and the others attempt to move the debris, but find they cannot. Lens tells Kyan to find the X-Wing that she was captured on, and hid it until he was able to contact rebel sympathisers. The group leave Lens and continue to fight their way to the main hanger. Upon arrival, they find a smaller transport containing an X-Wing fighter. Kyan pilots the ship, and escapes to hyperspace, but not before the hyperdrive is hit by rebel X-Wings who believe that the transport is filled with escaping Imperials. This shot damages the hyperdrive which the group try to repair unsuccessfully while in hyperspace.

Event: As the group emerge, they find that the hyperdrive is worse than they originally thought. The re-entry into normal space causes a ship wide failure, and an explosion in the engine room. The ship crashes to the desert below, and into a sand storm making visibility near impossible. Kyan manages to control the decent enough to perform an emergency landing. The ship crashes knocking everybody unconscious. After waking up, the group find that they are unable to move the ship as it had been buried half in the sand. The group also find a droid in one of the cargo areas which had been reactivated as a result of the crash . The droid introduces itself as a domestic droid called IM-K9-2.

Event: A short time later, a local farm boy, Shan Tanner, arrives to investigate. The group greet the boy, and he informs them that they landed on his parents property. He convinces them that he can take them to his parents homestead for supplies, and tools.

Event: The group accepts, and they travel to the homestead. While travelling, Shan tells the group that Sandpeople have been attacking outlying farms further east, which seems unusual for the Tusken Raiders.

Event: Upon arrival, the group meet Jahn and Lania Tanner, Shan’s parents. They are welcomed, and stay for dinner. During dinner they meet Wes and Dana Hogaan, and their teen aged daughter Minda. During dinner, Minda makes advances on Kyan. Kyan notices that these advances makes Shan jealous, and so does not reciprocate. After dinner they are asked to stay the night to which the group agrees.

Event: During the night, a large number of people originally thought to be sand-people, arrive at the homestead. It is later found that they are all refugees from raiding Sand People forces which have been attacking homesteads across the desert. The refugees also state that the Sand People are heading towards the farm.

Event: The group and the farmers state that they should go to the largest town in the area, Wayfar, and prepare to move out in the morning. In the morning, the group and all of the farmers, travel to Wayfar.

Event: At Wayfar, the group meets with the town Mayor, Goral Kaimer and organise a town meeting. During the meeting the townsfolk tell the group that they had contacted the Imperial Prefect earlier that day, and had found that no ships were available as they were currently occupied dealing with a sudden uprising in violence, and an increase in Bounty Hunter activity in Mos Eisley. The group then attempt to convince the community to stay and fight, and protect Wayfar. As a result, the townsfolk agree, but only on the condition that the group stays and helps. The folk then offer 1 whole silo of water as an incentive – as it was the only thing that they had to offer. The group agrees to the offer, but Kyan tells them to have his share back..

Event: After the meeting, Kyan finds that he is highly instrumental in fortifying Wayfar primary due to his military experience. During the organisation, Kyan finds a number of T-16 Skyhoppers which he tells the townspeople might be useful in finding out where the Sand People are at any time.. He also convinces Shan to transport him to their ship, to unload the X-Wing which he decides could be used in a strafing attack. Shan agrees, and transports him and Bordo to the ship without incident. Upon arrival, Kyan, Shan, and Bordo dig out the X-Wing. While Kyan prepares the X-Wing, Bordo and Shan make their way back. During the trip, they spot the Sand People army, and steer clear. Kyan brings the X-Wing back to Wayfar. While Kyan and the others are away, Rala and Imala receive another group of injured farmers at Wayfar. When Kyan and the others arrive, Kyan tells them that before returning to Wayfar, he did a fly over, and strafing run of the Sand People’s Camps. He then tells them that they scattered, and the camps were approximates 3 days away. During the 3 days, Kyan helps organise the manpower along with Bordo, Imala, and Rala. Also during this time, Kyan begins a few repairs on the X-Wing. Whilst doing this, he is approached by one of the injured farmers, a beautiful woman who identifies herself as Laurenya. She tells him that she is not from around here, but is a journalist doing a story on the lives of Tatooine Farmers. She also tells him that she has a keen interest in piloting and would some day like to join the Imperial Academy. During the three days the two become “close” friends. On the 2nd day, a group of Jawas arrive in a smaller version of a sand crawler, wishing to help for the price of half a water silo. At 1st dawn on the 3rd day, the Sand People attack. During the attack, giant Tatooine Desert Worms arrive swallowing large numbers of Sand People. Eventually, the Sand People flee as do the Desert Worms.

Event: During the battle however, Rala, Bordo, IM-K9-2 and Imala notice that the X-Wing, Kyan and one of the injured farmers have gone. Bordo, suspicious of the injured female farmer’s actions, tells Rala that they should return to the ship to see if Kyan and the woman had gone there. IM-K9-2 also requests to go to which they refuse. Imala soon awakes after the others leave, and IM-K9-2 insists that they take a speeder and go back to the ship. Imala agrees and they also leave for the ship. At the ship, Bordo, and Rala find the woman and Kyan. They also notice hat Kyan has been tied up, and that the woman has set explosives all around the ship. A short battle takes place, where Bordo and Rala are injured by the woman. Suddenly, IM-K9-2 arrives with Imala and they see the battle. Startling Imala, IM-K9-2 runs up to the ship, and a large blaster reveals itself from one of its arms. With a short phrase of: “Oh, blast”, the domo-droid blasts the woman knocking her to the ground. Kyan then tells the others that the blast will be used to destroy the ship, and the X-Wing. Bordo unties Kyan, and they all race towards the X-Wing. Kyan boards the X-Wing, and tells the others to get near the landing gears. As they get into position, Kyan activates the shields. Suddenly the explosion goes off, and the X-Wing is moved with the force of the explosion, but all are safe. The group are forced to move away from the burning wreck. Kyan tells the other that the Imperials would be coming soon, and that he must take the X-Wing somewhere where they would not find it. They all say their good-byes, and leave the site.
