SUMMARY:

Part 3 of a 5 part story arc dealing with the discovery by Tanlee and other members of Thermal Force that Zennox, Tanlee’s Homeworld, has been taken control by the Empire. In this episode, Thermal Force, with the help of an old friend – Agent Tiree, begins preparations of their plan to attack the base by stealing an old frieghter and disguising it as being part of an Imperial convoy. Little does Thermal Force realise that their plans have not gone unnoticed by a dark side adept who had previous taken telepathic control of Tanlee…

STORY:

Event: The group arrives at Koradan. Gan Jan-Ru and Ledala make contact with the Imperial Security Office (police) and ask to speak with Lt. Ren. They are told that he is currently busy. When Gan mentions that it is urgent, they are put through to Lt. Ren who is currently on assignment. Ren agrees to speak with them, and makes arrangements to meet them at the Moon Swing in one hour.

Lt. Ren arrives with two other uniformed security officers at the Moon Swing’s docking bay. Ren asks the 2 officers to guard the entrance, while he speaks with his “informants”.

Event: Gan and Ledala go outside to greet Lt. Ren. Gan advises Ren that there is a person or persons who are going to attempt to gain access to the Imperial garrison, and then sabotage it. Gan also says that he is aware of a bounty on this person, and requires some assistance from the local authorities. Gan also says that there would be a substantial reward for such assistance. Lt. Ren agrees to help, but says that he would prefer to speak about the matter at his office, in the morning. Gan agrees, and Lt. Ren departs. After Lt. Ren has left, Gan notices a small cylindrical device on the ground near where Lt. Ren was standing. Gan picks up the cylinder, and both Ledala and he return into the Moon Swing. Gan then gives the metal cylinder to Troy. Troy identifies the metal cylinder found by Gan and Ledala to be an Imperial Command Cylinder which gives easier access to most of the systems in the Imperial Security Net. It is decided that a large freighter needs to be stolen, and somehow added to the convoy. Troy says that he should be able to alter BOSS (Bureau of Ships and Services) records of a ship currently in dock, using the Command Cylinder. It is suggested that when Troy finds a ship currently in dock, similar to that of the ships arriving at the garrison, he would need to change the coding in the BOSS records, and add that to the list of ships arriving with the convoy. That would be the ship that would be taken by the group. Gan suggests that security is also going to be a problem, but decides that Lt. Ren should be able to help in that area, providing that he is paid well. Gan also suggests that Lt. Ren might be able to provide some engineer’s uniforms to be used as a cover, if anyone approaches them. Gordenez agrees to pilot the Moon Swing to the docking bay where the ship would be and drop off the group. Once there, he would then fly to the valley in the mountains that Ledala and the group had travelled to when waiting for Tanlee and Karahaa in Targe.

Event: With the plan now firmly together, Troy and Tanlee go into the city to find a computer terminal.

G.S.Date/Time: 0700 (0300 Ze.T.) – 35:05:23

Event: The two find a small library in the city, which has a large bank of computer terminals. Troy gains access to the Imperial Security Net using the command cylinder, and finds the details of a shipment arriving at the Imperial Garrison late this afternoon, Zennox time. Troy attempts to find the cargo of the ships in the convoy manifest, but is unable locate any entry. Troy then checks the types of ships in the convoy, and identifies that there is one Bulk Cruiser and 3 Skipray Blastboats. Troy then accesses the City Central Computer and locates a ship currently docked on bay 31A at Koradan, which is similar in design to the bulk freighter in the convoy, called the “Costa Lan”. Troy also obtains the flight-plans and schedule, along with the required clearance codes for the convoy, and the plans for the Imperial Garrison. Troy then changes the computer codes for the new ship to that of “an addition” to the convoy. Tanlee, in the meantime, accesses the city central computer, and places a time delay program that will activate a complete shutdown, of lighting, and security surveillance equipment in the areas between the Moon Swing and the “Costa Lan”. Tanlee and Troy then return to the Moon Swing.

Event: The group then pools all of their resources together to bribe Lt Ren. After a short break, Gan and Ledala go to see Lt. Ren at his office with the credits and Lt. Ren’s command cylinder.

G.S.Date/Time: 1300 (0900 Ze.T.) – 35:05:23

Event: Upon arrival, Gan and Ledala go with Lt. Ren into a special room which Lt. Ren informs them is not tapped. Gan and Ledala ask for some assistance with regards to the person who will be attempting to enter the Imperial Garrison. With that, Gan attempts to bribe the Lieutenant, and places the credits on the table. Lt Ren only takes half of the money, and mentions something which indicates to Gan and Ledala that he may be a rebel agent, and asks what he can do. Gan says that he would need some help in taking a ship which could be involved with the infiltration. Lt. Ren says that he will see what he can do about “re-assigning” patrols through the evening. Gan then asks if he would be able to gain access to 6 engineer’s uniforms. Lt. Ren says that there has been “some problems with deliveries” of late, and that he would see what could be done. Lt. Ren asks Gan and Ledala about a missing cylinder that he may have dropped near their ship. Gan then returns the Command Cylinder, and confirms that the cylinder was found near the ship. Gan thanks Lt. Ren for his help. As Gan and Ledala are leaving, Lt. Ren asks Gan if he could give regards to General Romilar. Gan returns to the Moon Swing.

Event: The uniforms arrive at the Moon Swing. The group rests and prepares the necessary equipment for the mission.

Event: Tanlee activates the security blackout, and the Moon Swing lifts off. Gordenez flies the Moon Swing to the docking bay of the “Costa Lan”, and the group disembark with the equipment. The group finds that the ship is open, and a drunken engineer lying at the foot of the landing ramp. The group quickly gather the passengers together, who are all blind drunk and take them off the ship. Troy examines the cargo, and finds that the ship is carrying a large shipment of technical parts. The group quickly prepare the ship for take-off, and then leave the city. After exiting the atmosphere, the group avoids the Strike Cruiser, and makes a micro jump to hyperspace.

Event: Using the flight plan and time schedule obtained from the Imperial Security Net, the group then make another micro-jump and arrive with the convoy in front of them, which was also arriving from hyperspace. As the Costa Lan approaches, the 2 front Skiprays break formation, to intercept the “Costa Lan”. The lead Skipray asks for the purpose of the group’s approach. Vi replies that they are part of the convoy, sent specifically under the orders of Emperor Kligga. Uncertain of this new addition, the flight-leader asks for the clearance code. Troy then transmits the codes, and the flight-leader welcomes the “Costa Lan” to the convoy.
