SUMMARY:

Having been placed in command of the Home Fleet while General Romilar recovers from the effects of the Plague, Lieutenant Daurek Lennison encounters a strange anomaly seemingly watching the Home Fleet. hen he investigates, the energy from the fleet is seemingly drained, which allows the escape of one of Mission Group Alpha’s greatest enemies…

STORY:

Event: Daurek makes arrangements to have the Derrillium Plague investigated by the Rebel Scientists, as soon as they are well enough to work. The results are that Derrillium plague first appeared on Derrillia in the Iscol Sector. The plague ravished 4 continents before the scientist found the only cure, a native, bulbous fungus called the Frilaa’Nice. A visiting scientist, who was on a research excursion, identified the virus. The doctor was Dr. Tjaleq Kith’ Araquia, of Kirtania. The doctor found that the fungus was similar to the Shiarha Root, found on his homeworld of Kirtania. Unfortunately, the virus spread so widely, most of the fungus was used to revive the sick on the planet. Many attempts were made to replicate the vaccine, but failed. It also was impossible to farm the fungus. On further investigation by the medical teams onboard the “Home” Fleet, it is found that the virus is a mutated form of the original Direllium Plague. Most of the team have no idea how the cure worked, as it should have only worked on the original plague, not a strand. Some of the DNA coding of the virus had been physically altered. The medical team states that the only groups that have access to the type of equipment capable of doing this is the Empire, and the Corporate Sector Authority. A number of messages are sent to Rebel High Command in relation to the discovery of the plague. As a result, all files and research are forwarded to High Command. A request for members of the Diplomatic Corps to be advised of the situation with lizard race on Masterhome, and the plight of the Araquia. A suggestion is the two be mixed, and Masterhome be used as safe world for the Araquia and any other Rebels who may need safe haven. The fleet jumps to K-360-0813 in the Fakir Sector, after Ledala and Troy slave-rig the “Home” fleet nav-computers.

Event: The rest of the group leaves for Zennox, without informing Karahaa.

Event: Mortex Sector Force base on Fangol is contacted in relation to the contacting of merchants to help evacuate the Araquia off planet, as the planet of Katania is located in the Mortex Sector. The result of this inquiry will be forwarded to “Home” upon arrival with the cargo train, “Black Ice”. Karahaa is made responsible for getting the medical teams and staff back to full strength and assisting the medical droids with the treatment of the personnel on “Home”. Karahaa is unaware of Tanlee’s disappearance until it is too late. Daurek is placed in charge of “Home” until a higher ranking officer recovers from the plague. During his time on the bridge, Daurek is made aware of a strange anomaly in space. Daurek orders that the anomaly be investigated. Over the next day, the anomaly grows in size and strength, until it is about 10 kilometres away from the fleet. Daurek senses a great disturbance in the Force. He further orders a probe be sent into the anomaly.

Event: As the probe is launched, power levels decrease dramatically throughout the “Home” fleet, leaving minimal life support available. Daurek checks the security section and finds that all security locks have been placed off-line due to the power fluctuations.

Event: The sensors are given priority, and the probe is monitored on its approach. As the probe enters the anomaly, there is a tremendous Force scream, and the anomaly vanishes. The power is returned, but it is found that since the security locks were placed off-line, Jodo Kast had escaped. Jodo Kast is tracked by Daurek using the ship’s sensors. It seems that Kast is using the access crawl-ways to move about the ship, and is found to be moving towards the main hanger bay. Daurek makes his way to the hanger bay to prevent Kast from escaping. When he arrives, he is confronted with a body falling from the ceiling of the hanger bay. A short time later, Karahaa also falls from the roof. It is then found that Karahaa was advised of the situation of Kast, and followed him through the turbolift shafts and access crawl-ways, and intercepted him on a gantry on the ceiling of the hanger. A short battle took place and Kast was thrown to the ground. Kast is treated, and returned to his cell.
