SUMMARY:

After returning from Masterhome, the members of Mission Group Alpha find that the “Home” Fleet is no responding to communications and that the only message is that of a recording from General Romilar requesting that the Members of Mission Group Alpha travel to the jungle planet of Araquia to find the cure for a plague that has suddenly hit the entire “Home” Fleet. Whilst on the planet, the members of Mission Group Alpha will be forced to help a spider like race liberate their world from the clutches of the Empire before they will release the cure to the Rebellion…

STORY:

Event: The group arrives at “Home” they receive a recorded message from General Hannibal Romilar. The message gives a warning not to approach the fleet, as the Direllian Plague has affected all the personnel. The General further states that the disease is treatable, but requires a medicine known as the Shiarha root, which “Home” has no access to. The planet Kirtania, in the Yyrtan system, is one of the few planets where the root can be found. Further, the noted epidemiologist, Dr. T’jaleq Kith’Araquia resides on the planet. He is one of the doctors to first identify the plague and to find the cure. The General gasps for breath, and says that he can hold out for a week, and then the fleet is as good as dead. As the group prepares the navi-computer for the jump, a small shuttle emerges from hyperspace, heading towards the “Home” fleet. The group makes contact with the shuttle and finds that a rebel diplomat has been sent by Alliance High Command to inspect the workings of “Home”. Unfortunately, as is known to the group, the retired captain cannot enter the base. The Captain is told of the plan to get the Shiarha root, and agrees to accompany the group to Araquia. The Moon Swing docks with the shuttle, and the retired Captain is brought on-board and introduced to the group. The group leaves for Kirtania, to find the cure.

Event: The group arrives in the Yyrtan system. An Imperial Star Destroyer is in orbit, and beyond that lies Kirtania. The planet seems to be mainly lush, tropic forests, except for a large area of what could only be described as barren soil.

Event: The group is told to stand firm as the Imperial Customs Frigate, Dorromar III, will board shortly. The group goes about the ship, hiding all illegal items. A short time later, the frigate boards, and Stormtroopers enter the Moon Swing, with no resistance from the group. The ship is checked by the Stormtroopers, but they find nothing. Lt. Chirron Drebbick then makes himself known to the group. After some long discussion, Ledala convinces Drebbick that she is here with her crew and some passengers to pick up a shipment of low-tech equipment. Gan Jan-Ru also speaks with Drebbick. Gan explains that he is here on business, and a mere passenger on the Moon Swing. Chirron explains that there has been a bounty placed on the resistance leader of Kirtania, and that if Gan could investigate the problem, it “may” not be necessary to perform a complete check of the captain, crew and passengers. Gan agrees, and the bounty is explained. Chirron describes the leader of the resistance. The description is identical to that of Dr Kith’Araquia. He also explains that Gan has 2 days to find the leader. If not, the deal is off, and a team of Stormtroopers would be sent to investigate the Moon Swing, and will be “sure to find something”. Drebbick and his troopers leave the Moon Swing, and the group is released to travel to the planet. As the group comes in closer, they realise that the barren area is being deforested. Large areas have been made blackened and bare. Other large areas are in flames, billowing dense smoke into the atmosphere. Large machines crawl across the landscape, levelling trees in their path. The group is questioned by Kinkosa starport as to why they are at Kirtania. The group identifies themselves as traders and have been cleared by Lt Chirron Drebbick. The Moon Swing is soon cleared for arrival at the Kinkosa spaceport.

Event: The group arrives at Kirtania’s port city of Kinkosa. Arrival is at 0800 hours, Kirtania time. The group observe a customs team approaching the ship, but about-face after obviously being told to disregard their standard orders. The group, apart from Troy, Ledala and Daurek, leave the Moon Swing to explore Kinkosa Starport. Tanlee and Karahaa go to the library with Sir Basil to investigate the root and any further information about Kirtania. Gan Jan-Ru and Vi go into the city to find information about the resistance on Kirtania.

Event: Gan and Vi explore the city and find a Community Notice that states that Kinkosa is the site for a new Imperial supply station. Time Taken: 3 hours G.S.Date/Time: 2300 (1200 Kt.T.) – 35:04:24 Event: Both also find a wanted poster with a picture of Dr. Kith"Araquia, who is wanted for crimes against the Empire. At this time, the two meet with Kutu, a Ho’Din medical researcher. The three look for somewhere to talk and find a small cantina. Time Taken: 1 hour G.S.Date/Time: 0000 (1300 Kt.T.) – 35:04:25 Event: After some discussion, Gan and Vi say that they are looking for Kith, but are not specific on what for. Also at the cantina, they find Lobster Head who is still on his Intergalactic Bar Crawl. As a result they call Ledala to cone to the bar. Daurek waits on the Moon Swing with Troy. Suddenly, 7 bounty hunters enter the cantina with blasters drawn, and state, “Give it up Mantrell. Hakoon may let you live if you return it – and beg hard enough. You’re surrounded. You don’t have a chance.” This seems to be directed to Vi. A battle takes place in the cantina. The others are contacted, and Tanlee, Karahaa and Ledala, race to the scene. Vi is knocked down in the fight, and almost killed. Gan Jan-Ru saves Vi as one of the Bounty Hunters puts a gun to Vi’s head. Gan, with Vi over his shoulder, and Kutu escape via the rear of the premises. Gan, Kutu and the incapacitated Vi soon meet with the others. Event: Kara, Tanlee and Bazil enter the city to find a library. Time Taken: 2 hours G.S.Date/Time: 2200 (1100 Kt.T.) – 35:04:24 Event: After some searching, the group finds a small library on the edge of the city. In the library, they find all the information about the Shiarha root and the Direllian Plague, to which Bazil downloads all the information to his datapad. Time Taken: 2 hours G.S.Date/Time: 0000 (1300 Kt.T.) – 35:04:25 Event: Tanlee is confronted by an Imperial who asks why the Wookiee is loose. Tanlee soon explains that Karahaa is a slave. After some further conning, the Imperial is convinced, and leaves. The three then hear the distress call of Gan and Vi, and rush to the cantina. Side Event III – The Waiting

Event: All three wait in the Moon Swing making sensor readings of the surrounding areas. Time Taken: 4 hours G.S.Date/Time: 0000 (1300 Kt.T.) – 35:04:25 Event: They find that there are massive life form readings for the forest and that the Empire is gradually destroying the rain forest. Daurek feels uneasy with all the death and destruction of native life. Ledala receives the message that Lobster Head is in the cantina and so leaves to find the cantina. A short time later, Ledala receives the distress call from Gan and Vi. Upon arrival, Ledala meets with Karahaa, Tanlee and Bazil. They discover the carnage, and soon meet up with Gan, Vi and the new found friend, Kutu. Time Taken: 1 hour G.S.Date/Time: 0100 (1400 Kt.T.) – 35:04:25 Event: All of the group make their way back to the Moon Swing. Time Taken: 1 hour G.S.Date/Time: 0200 (1500 Kt.T.) – 35:04:25 Event: After arriving at the Moon Swing, Vi is treated by Troy for his wounds. After his wounds are healed, Vi decides to find out where the Bounty Hunters had come from, and who is Hakoon. Vi then leaves to investigate the city. Side Event IV – Hakoon

Event: Vi returns to the city and investigates the whereabouts of Hakoon. Time Taken: 2 hours G.S.Date/Time: 0500 (1800 Kt.T.) – 35:04:25 Event: His search leads him to a 5-story building in the middle of the city. The building is modern, and has what seems to be an underground vehicle park. Vi attempts to sneak up to the security guard, but unfortunately fails, and Vi is stunned unconscious. Time Taken: 18 hours G.S.Date/Time: 2300 (1300 Kt.T.) – 35:04:25 Event: Some time later, Vi awakens in an office room, sitting in a chair. As he awakes fully, a Kubaz who identifies himself as Schnil Hakoon greets Vi. He complements Vi and his group on their battle at the cantina, and apologises for the attack. He further explains that he is looking for someone who looks remarkably like Vi, except for a mole on his left cheek. The man is human and goes by the name of Pierce Mantrell. Mantrell recently took a rare gem called the Amber Eye from Hakoon’s collection. Hakoon describes the eye, says that it is bright clear yellow, with an extinct insect on the inside. Hakoon also explains that the group may be low in supplies, and perhaps he could refill their depleted stocks, if the Amber Eye is found, as his own men seem incapable of recovering the same. Hakoon also says that, if it is possible, to return Mantrell to him as well. Hakoon also briefly describes his work on Kirtania, and identifies himself as crime-lord, and is in charge of the black market. Time Taken: 1 hour G.S.Date/Time: 0000 (1400 Kt.T.) – 35:04:26 Event: Vi is then let go, and when he returns to the Moon Swing, finds Troy who tells his that the rest of the group has gone into the forest. Vi contacts the others, and tells them that he will hire a speeder bike to get into the forest, to catch up. Vi then goes into the town and hires a speeder bike, to catch up to the others. Time Taken: 1 hour G.S.Date/Time: 0100 (1500 Kt.T.) – 35:04:26 Event: Vi contacts the group. The group give him directions to their current location, and soon Vi arrives at the Araquian village. Event: That evening, the group secretly moves through the city and enters the forest.

Event:At the point where Kutu shows the group how to get into the forest, the group find fresh tracks. Gan Jan-Ru identifies these tracks as being those of a human.

Event: Kutu guides the group into the forest for a short while. The group then rests for the evening. The group is awoken during the night by a massive explosion, which seems to be a kilometre north. When the group goes to investigate, they find a number of Imperial scouts have swarmed into the area. Karahaa and Kutu climb into the trees and investigate from above.

Event: Kutu and Karahaa soon discover what caused the explosion. An enormous transport carrying hardwood logs has been overturned and is on fire. The Imperials have rounded up the other workers, and an AT-ST has entered the area. Over in another area, troopers work furiously to cut others free from some sort of net, which has dropped over them, and has entangled them. Some scout troopers begin to search the surrounding area, and so the group quickly, but quietly, return to the campsite.

Event: Daurek, early that morning goes and finds a clearing and meditates, in an attempt to find the location of Dr. Kith’Araquia. A vision comes before him of a large spider, with a mask, jumping about a large fire. Suddenly, the smoke of the fire consumes the spider, and Daurek is returned to the platform of training in his dream-scape. Daurek is tied down, and is spoken to by a female voice that he believes is his sister. Eventually he breaks the bonds, and wakes up.

Event: Stunned, after the vision of his sister, Daurek re-joins the group. The group then continues into the forest with Kutu as their guide.

Event: After some distance, the group comes across a large river. The group estimates that the river is 2 kilometres across. The group also sees large lizard type creatures enter the water almost on cue, when they arrive at the riverbank. The group searches for some type of material to use to get across the river. They soon find a small cove that contains large lilies, approximately 4 meters across. Gan Jan-Ru also finds a number of human footprints in the mud. The group moves across the river, but Karahaa is attacked. After a struggle, Karahaa defeats the creatures. Sometime later, the group arrives on the other side of the river. Kutu finds the track of the human footprints, and says that they are headed for the doctor’s hide-out.

Event: After a long trek through the rain forest, the group hears a man’s scream, followed by a loud snarl. The group races ahead to investigate and finds a large lizard draped over a male human, who looks like Vi.

Event: Karahaa, who was travelling in the trees, discovers another lizard as it attacks. Karahaa soon dispenses with the lizard, as the rest of the group kills the first lizard. As a result, the male human is saved. When asked how he was, the man identifies himself as Pierce Mantrell, who is searching for the medicine as well. Upon closer examination, the group finds that this person looks remarkably like Vi, except for a mole on his left cheek. When asked, he further states that his daughter was suffering from a deadly disease. He left his daughter with relatives while he travelled the space-lanes trying to get enough money together to pay for medicines. When Vi asks him about the Amber Eye, Mantrell says that he took it after Hakoon stole his cargo, which would have given him enough money to buy the needed medicine for his daughter. Mantrell’s story is accepted, but Gan Jan-Ru seems to be uncertain. The group with Mantrell, travel further into the forest. Just before twilight, the group comes across a small clearing where two or three trees have toppled over, and have made an opening of sorts. On the far side there is a net bag hanging from a branch. Inside the bag, something is struggling.

Event: Suddenly, three Araquian break from the tree-tops, and a short battle takes place. The battle ends with on casualties on either side. As suddenly as the first three came from the tree-tops, another 50 emerge. The group holds their fire, and come out into the opening. The group is then taken high into the canopy of the forest, to the Araquian Council. The group is brought before a type of witch-doctor, who wears a mask, and jumps around the encampment. Daurek recognises the creature as the one that he saw in his vision. The group explains the predicament of “Home” and requests the help of the Araquians. The witch-doctor stops jumping, removes the mask, and identifies itself as Doctor T’Jaleq Kith’Araquia. The group is told that the Araquian’s are planning an attack on the Imperials, which should stop them forever. The group explains the ways of the Empire. Kith then says that if that is the case; he will not give the group the medicines, until after they return from the battle. The group then says that they will help. Vi soon arrives at the camp and tells the story that Harkoon told him, about Mantrell.

Event: During the discussions, Mantrell begins to step back, and much to Vi’s displeasure, falls through the tree-tops and onto to the ground. Vi then goes to the ground level, and finds no sign of Mantrell, but does fine the Amber Eye. The group is re-united, and plans are made to attack the Imperial encampment. Early, the next morning, the group execute their plan.

Event: At the centre, they speak with the commanding officer Lt. Gerard. Gan tells Gerard that he is on a mission for Lt. Drebbick, and that it is of the utmost importance that Lt. Drebbick be informed of an update on the mission. After some conning, Gan is given access to the holovid screen. He speaks with Drebbick and tells him that he has the location of the tribesman. Drebbick shows his disbelief, and orders the officers in the control room to arrest Vi and Gan. A fire-fight then begins, and Gan and Vi escape after throwing a thermal detonator into the room. The control room explodes, giving the rest of the group and the entire Araquian tribe the signal to attack. Karahaa, Tanlee and Ledala take over the deforestation machine and head it in the direction of the logging trucks. An AT-ST comes into the fray, blasts away at the deforestation machine as it rumbles towards the rest of the Imperial encampment. The AT-ST severely damages the deforestation machine, but due to the inertia of the vehicle, the deforestation machine keeps moving. The AT-ST tries to move out of the way of the deforestation machine but is not fast enough. The deforestation machine crashes into the AT-ST, destroying it and itself. The explosion causes a chain reaction and a number of logging craft are also destroyed. Vi and Gan escape on the speeder bike and destroy a logging truck in the process, by lodging a grenade in the fuel intake tube. The Araquians are also successful, webbing most of the victims, and suffering minimal casualties. After the battle, the group flees into the tree-tops with the Araquia. As they arrive at the village, the group finds that the Imperials have found the Araquian’s hide-out, and have set it ablaze.

Event: The group, along with the other Araquians, are told to gather the roots, and take them to safety. Troy is also contacted and told to make his way with the Moon Swing to a clearing about 3 kilometres away. The group and the Araquians eventually rendezvous with the Moon Swing, and the roots are loaded on-board.

Event: A number of Araquians are brought on-board as well, including Dr. Kith’Araquia’s assistant, who agrees to accompany the group back to “Home”. Kutu decides to stay on Kirtania to study with Dr. Kith’Araquia. Daurek promises to advise Rebel High Command of the plight of the Araquians, and will try to do something about the problem. The group then boards the Moon Swing and leaves the system, avoiding the Star Destroyer in orbit.

Event: The group arrives back at the “Home” fleet with Dr. Kith’Araquia’s assistant and about 20 Araquians. With the help of Dr. Kith’Araquia’s assistant, and the other Araquians, the group, with newly medically trained Karahaa, prepare the liquid from the Shiarha root and distribute the medicine. The root has the desired effect, but almost 90% of the crew are still too weak for duty. As a result, Karahaa is placed in charge of Medical Operations, and Daurek is placed in charge of Command Operations. In the meantime, the group works together to bring the “Home” fleet’s systems back on line. Their first priority is to move the fleet to a different position. Ledala and Troy work on the hyperdrive and nav computer systems. Ledala, with the help of Troy discovers a way to bring all of the “Home” systems on-line in a “slave” mode. Unfortunately, this will burn out some of the systems, but would be repairable.
