SUMMARY:

While looking for a suitable location for a Rebel Safe-World, the members of Mission Group Alpha stumble across the world of Masterhome, and the unusual lizard race of the Anointed People. Here, the members of Mission Group Alpha will have to prove themselves worthy so that the Rebellion can gain some much needed supplies and foodstuffs. But just when the Rebels think that the mission is a success, the Empire arrives with plans to colonize the planet and place the Anointed People into slavery. Unless of course the members of Mission Group Alpha have other plans…

STORY:

Event: The group takes a short rest for the night before being brought together for a first contact mission. The group is told that the supply situation on “Home” and the Fakir Sector Force is worsening. As a result, a number of scouting missions has been conducted throughout the sector, in an attempt to locate new agricultural resources. As a result, a long forgotten world has been discovered. The major problem is the area best suited for farming is occupied by a civilised race of lizard type aliens. The society is only at a feudal level of advancement, but contact is absolutely necessary. The mission for the group is to make contact with the lizard aliens and convince them to join the Rebel Alliance.

Event: The group arrives at Masterhome. A group of pirates jumps the Moon Swing. The pirate identifies himself as Captain Jayhawk of the freighter “Marionette”. He also tells the group to power down, and prepare to be boarded.

Event: A short battle takes place, and the Marionette is destroyed. The group makes their way down to the planet’s surface.

Event: After a check of the surface, the group discovers the whereabouts of the lizard race community. A large forest is located near the village, and the group decides to land in a clearing in the forest, away from the village. Gan Jan-Ru takes the opportunity to land the ship, and finds that his skills need improving as the trees crash into the hull. Eventually, the Moon Swing lands. The group, excluding Ledala, make their way to the village.

Event: The group arrives at night, and observe the village from the riverbank. Using macrobinoculars, Vi watches 2 of the lizard aliens meet at the bridge, and embrace. One alien is female and the other male. The male is dressed in clothes of importance, with some type of armour. The female alien seems to be covered in peasant’s clothes.

Event: Vi then goes to make contact with the aliens, much to the dismay of the others in the group. The plan seem to be working as Vi sneaks under the bridge, but Gan Jan-Ru dislodges a rock, causing the aliens to become more alert, and they discover Vi. The plan backfires, as the alien prepares to attack Vi as he approaches them. Realising that Vi was in trouble, Gan Jan-Ru sneaks up and takes the aliens from behind. One of the aliens sounds the alarm by yelling. Both aliens are taken into the undergrowth, where the rest of the group is waiting. The group peacefully interrogates the aliens. At the sight of the Wookiee, the female alien faints. The male alien explains that his lover (the other alien) fainted when she saw the Creature from the Kraal Mountains and points to the Wookiee. Daurek explains to the male alien, who the group is and what their purpose on the planet is. The male alien further explains that he is the son of the Godking, ruler of the City of Masterhome. The son of the Godking soon convinces the group, to go before the Godking. Under armed guard, the group is escorted to the Court of the Godking.

Event: The group tries to explain the situation to the Godking, but instead, the Godking places the group into custody. The group is thrown into the dungeons of the Godking’s palace, and awaits the Godking’s decision.

Event: The group tries to explain to the guards that the Wookiee hates confined spaces, and is likely to go berserk. This does not deter the brave guards. Some time later, the group is released, and brought before the Godking who explains that he is sorry for the misunderstandings. He speaks of an ancient legend that many years ago, travellers from the stars, brought gifts and knowledge from the heavens. A short time after they left, the High Priests destroyed any evidence of what the travellers had brought to the Anointed People. The travellers were deemed to be evil, and to speak of the travellers was punishable by death. At this time, a law was passed by the High Council, and written into the Holy Scriptures of the Anointed People, that when or if the travellers would return, a number of tests would take place to prove their worthiness. The Godking states that to be free, the group will have to successfully complete the test. The group agrees to take the tests. The group is told to rest for the rest of the day, while the Godking consults the ancient Scriptures, to find the tests, which will take place. A feast would be held in the evening in their honour.

Event: At the feast, the group is subjected to a test. The test is tried on Daurek, who is given a mild poison in his food. Daurek resists the poison, and in turn is told that he had passed the first test. The group returns to their quarters soon after the feast.

Event: The second test takes place when the group has returned to their quarters. One of the unwashed Anointed People speaks with one of the group, saying that the Godking must be killed, as he wishes to destroy the group. The lizard alien suggests that the group could kill him. This is brought to the Godking’s attention, and the unwashed alien is dealt with. The group passes the second test. The group awakes in the morning and is given the details of their next test.

Event: In the morning, the group is told that their next test is that of a wrestling competition. Vi is challenged, and fights a lizard alien. Vi is the victor, and so passes the third test. The next test occurs shortly after the wrestling competition. A very sick alien is brought before the group. The test is to cure the alien of the disease. The group requests some time for this test, and proceeds to look for herbs and medicines in the forests which could provide an antidote.

Event: After a few days, Karahaa finds what she needs, and cures the sick alien. The group is told to wait for the next test in their quarters, which will be delivered in the morning.

The group awakens and is given their next test.

Event: The next test is the greatest challenge of all – to make the sun stop moving. The group accepts the challenge, and calls Ledala to bring the Moon Swing to the village. The Moon Swing arrives, much to the amazement of the Anointed People. At the request of the group, the Godking and a number of his servants are brought on-board the Moon Swing. The Moon Swing then takes off and orbits Masterhome. The Godking is shown that the sun has stopped moving, and that Masterhome is a globe.

Event: The Godking immediately says that the group has passed all the tests. A short time later, the group picks up a ship exiting hyperspace.

Event: The group attempts to make contact with the ship, and finds that it is an Imperial Curich-Class Shuttle, the Resurgence, under the command of Captain Gorgi. The Moon Swing is soon after attacked and a battle takes place over Masterhome. The group successfully destroys the shuttle, once in the atmosphere. The group lands back at the village, and the Godking has a meeting with the elders.

Event: Some time later, the group is summonsed to the Court of the Godking and it is announced that the Godking and his people would like to join the Alliance. Daurek then says that a group of diplomats will return soon to make the necessary arrangements. Each member of the group is given the Masterhome Crystal of Demigodkingship in a ceremony to honour the occasion. After the ceremony, the Godking announces a daylong celebration.

Event: The group then prepares to leave, and soon after departs from the village.

Event: The Moon Swing leaves the planet, Karahaa sends the request to the “Home” Fleet for pick-up, and the group enters hyperspace.

Event: The Moon Swing arrives and finds no sign of the “Home” Fleet. A short time later, a transmission is received from “Home” via a small probe in the system. The message is urgent and requests that the group rendezvous with the “Home” Fleet at the transmitted coordinates. The Moon Swing jumps to the new coordinates

Event: When the group arrives at “Home” they receive a recorded message from General Hannibal Romilar. The message gives a warning not to approach the fleet, as the Direllian Plague has affected all the personnel. The General further states that the disease is treatable, but requires a medicine known as the Shiarha root, which “Home” has no access to. The planet Kirtania, in the Yyrtan system, is one of the few planets where the root can be found. Further, the noted epidemiologist, Dr. T’jaleq Kith’Araquia resides on the planet. He is one of the doctors to first identify the plague and to find the cure. The General gasps for breath, and says that he can hold out for a week, and then the fleet is as good as dead. As the group prepares the navi-computer for the jump, a small shuttle emerges from hyperspace, heading towards the “Home” fleet. The group makes contact with the shuttle and finds that a rebel diplomat has been sent by Alliance High Command to inspect the workings of “Home”. Unfortunately, as is known to the group, the retired captain cannot enter the base. The Captain is told of the plan to get the Shiarha root, and agrees to accompany the group to Araquia. The Moon Swing docks with the shuttle, and the retired Captain is brought on-board and introduced to the group.
