SUMMARY:

Armed with the information they obtained from the Imperial Base on Lotide, the members of Thermal Force take part in a daring raid on the Imperial Supply Depot on Refrax with the aim of taking Black Ice – a large container train, 3 times the size of a Star Destroyer, filled with enough fuel to supply the Rebellion for years to come. The only thing stopping them, is a ship full of droids and an Imperial Engineer hell-bent on preventing the Rebels from capturing his prize possession…

STORY:

Event: After almost a week of rest and recuperation, the group is suddenly called to the main mission briefing chamber.

Event: The group is briefed by Hannibal Romilar and Major Mers on the situation concerning the Imperial Replenishment Fleet, due to arrive at the Imperial Supply Depot 431 of Refrax in the next day or so. The group is told that since the raid on Refrax, approximately 6 months earlier, by the combined efforts of the Reekeene Roughnecks and the Sarnikalon Resistance Force, the Empire has left an Interdictor Cruiser at the Depot. This has been learnt over the last few months after Rebel spies infiltrated the depot. With the help of the information gained from Lotide by the group, various strike teams were able to put into place plans to again take the Depot, and to gain control of the container train “Black Ice”, which is believed to be completely filled with fuel. The combined strength of the Fakir Sector and the Mortex Sector Forces have provided enough capital ships to engage the Imperials at Refrax. The group is told that they are requested to take part in a dangerous mission to enter the container train, Black Ice and take control of the ship. It is further explained that prior to the battle, it was necessary to gain some type of counter-measure to stop the Interdictor Cruiser (stationed at Refrax) from preventing the escape of the Rebel ships into hyperspace, once the group has gained control of “Black Ice”. This mission was performed by Black Team, a mission group attached to the Mortex Sector. Black team is under the command of Captain Untos Pquot, a T’wlek. The mission involved capturing the Imperial Interdictor Cruiser “Demise”, which in an unprecedented attack, was captured. This was also accomplished with the help of the modified Dreadnaught, “Warsprite” which was captured previously by Black Team. The group is told that the “Demise” will enter the system, prior to the rest of the fleet, and will act as a decoy. The group is told that they will be provided with a cramped Spiral-class attack ship, which will be launched during the battle. The ship will be able to fuse itself onto Black Ice and enable the group to enter it un-noticed. A number of vessels from the Mortex Sector Force arrives at the “Home” fleet. The group prepares for the mission, while the “Home” fleet jumps to Refrax to rendezvous with the Mortex Sector Fleet.

Event: During the trip, the group boards the attack ship. The
group is designated white team, and are informed that another
mission group from the Mortex Sector Fleet, commanded by
a man named Untos, shall be designated black team. The
mission for black team, is to take the foremost capsule of
Black Ice, while Thermal Force is to take the other.

Event: The fleet arrives at Refrax and the Spiral-class attack ship, with the group aboard, is launched from the, Galofree transport, the “Lion’s Pride”. The group sees the battle raging outside. Troy is piloting the ship, with Ledala, Gan Jan-Ru, Karahaa, Vi and Tanlee as passengers. QT-7 is also aboard at the request of Troy. The group decides to breach the ship’s hull at the point of auxiliary engineering. The attack craft hits it’s mark exactly, and soon the group enters auxiliary engineering. The group finds that they have landed in a control room. The group make their way to the turbolifts, and encounter a large container droid which almost runs them over. The group avoid the droid, and make their way to the turbolifts which take them to the bridge area. When the group arrives at the bridge, a fire-fight ensues with Imperial troops firing from, behind a barricade. The group soon takes care of the troops, and makes their way through a blast door. The group is confronted by 3 troopers and a light repeating blaster. A large fire-fight then takes place, including ambushes by more Imperial troops trying to keep control of the bridge. During the fight, the Wookiee is knocked unconscious, and Vi is almost killed, again. The Imperials are eventually defeated. The group then take the bridge, and find 2 Imperial Lieutenants. The group is sent a message by Major Mers, who tells them that the plan has changed, and that they are not to proceed to Fangol, but are to proceed to the Texhulic System – the location of Helix Base, a small rebel safe-world in the Mortex Sector. The group is told that the rest of the fleet will proceed to the rendezvous point at Fangol, while the Corellian Corvette “Forever Star” will proceed precede the “Black Ice” to Texhulic. The group engage the “Black Ice’s” engines, and with some modifications to the jump coordinates by Troy, “Black Ice” soon jumps to light-speed.

Side Event I – Trapped in the Ice

Staring: Tanlee, Troy, Ledala, Gan Jan-Ru, Vi and Karahaa

Event: The group soon finds they have problems when QT-7, who is plugged into the computer system, is fried by a large charge of energy. Troy removed QT, but not in time. The group is contacted by Black Team who seem to be in the midst of combat and mention large numbers of droids. The comlink then goes dead. The group is then plagued by problems throughout the ship. Gan takes the two Imperial officers aside, being careful not to be in sight of Tanlee, and interrogates them. When one refuses to speak, Gan kills him with his vibro-dagger, and then questions the surviving one further. The survivor “spills his guts” about the running of “Black Ice”. Ledala, Tanlee and Karahaa attempt to reach the other capsule, and find that the fuel has been spilled into one of the tubes. Above them also, they notice a maintenance droid, doing the complete opposite of what it would normally be programmed to do, and is cutting the plating holding the fuel beyond the repulsorlift tube. The three run for their lives, just in time to avoid drowning in the fuel. Gan and Troy confront a large security droid in the tunnel leading up to the sensor dish. The droid is destroyed by Gan with his newly found Repeating Blaster. Troy is confronted further with keeping the systems of “Black Ice” operational. A short time later, Troy finds that the computer tampering is being handled from the Maintenance Hanger. The group travels to the Maintenance section and finds that a furnace has been set to explode. The group battles with droids and laser-welders, all controlled by Chief Engineer Skolos. Gan Jan-Ru avoids the various tools and droids being used as weapons, and makes it to the control room where he believes the controller of the problems is, Ledala collapses from the heat and is rescued by Karahaa, and Vi attempts to close down the furnace. Skolos is being attacked from all sides. On the physical, he is being taken by the group in the Maintenance Section, and from cyberspace, Troy and Tanlee battle Skolos in the world of computers. Tanlee and Troy defeat Skolos in the computer network, and Gan Jan-Ru severely wounds Skolos, by cutting off the engineer’s hand in battle. Skolos is taken to medical by Karahaa. Troy brings all systems back on line as “Black Ice” exits hyperspace, arriving in the Texhulic system, the location of the Rebel Alliance safe-world and Helix Base. After entering the system, the group finds that a tight beam Imperial distress signal is being sent from “Black Ice”. Time Taken: 6 hours Time Taken: 1200

Event: A flight of X-Wings and Rebel shuttle emerge from the surface of the planet, and intercept “Black Ice”. Thinking that he has flown the rest of the group into a trap, Troy identifies himself as Chief Engineer Skolos. In return, the X-Wings fire across the bow of “Black Ice” and tell her to power down. Troy immediately powers “Black Ice” down, and Vi takes the comm. He contacts the flight leader and informs him of what has happened. The flight leader, Bakki Romilar from the “Home” fleet, greets the group and tells them to report immediately to Major Mers, who is awaiting them on the surface. The rebel shuttle takes the group to the surface, and into Helix Base.

Event: Major Mers briefs the group on what has happened at the battle of Refrax, and explains that Helix Base has been compromised by the distress signal sent from “Black Ice” and so the entire safe-world must be evacuated. The group decides that it would be best to move “Black Ice” to the other side of the planet, move all the personnel and families into the hanger bays of “Black Ice”, and take them to the nearest base. This would serve two purposes, and utilises all available resources. Major Mers agrees and determines that the process would save the base 3 days. The group then leaves the briefing, and begin preparations for the evacuation.

Event: As promised, the Moon Swing is returned to Ledala with the added modifications of two new transponder codes, namely “The Vandolar Key”, and the “Kialla Blue” and additional weapons. Gan Jan-Ru organises the weapons he recovered from “Black Ice” to be packed and brought aboard the Moon Swing. Meanwhile, Vi, Karahaa, Troy and Tanlee help organise the evacuation.

Event: After a large portion of the base had been evacuated, an Imperial Star Destroyer emerges from hyperspace and launches an attack of TIE fighters against the Base. The attack, although not successful, did allow one of the new TIE Interceptor prototype, enough sensor coverage to determine what was being done by the Rebels.

Event: The group is told to rendezvous with the “Home” fleet and Black Ice at Fangol. The group, now aboard the Moon Swing, are the last to leave the system. They decide that they must return to Zennox to check on the condition of the people from Targe. As the Moon Swing enters hyperspace, Troy detects a large oval shape ship enter the system, and identifies it as a Torpedo Sphere – a ship with enough torpedoes to annihilate an entire city. By the time the next wave was sent by the Imperials, the refugees from the base were away.
