Midge Dankwater

Rebel Officer (Commander) and Kaldra Resistance Leader

Description:
Midge is a member of the Kaldra race, from Sarnikalon, a planet in the heart of the Fakir Sector. The Kaldra are one of the most technological races in the galaxy, and their products, bearing the trademark Dankwater Industries (although in recent times, Borg Industries), range from toys to starfighters, and everything in between. Midge could be best described as short and round, has a dark grey beard and is full of laughs. Midge is well known throughout the sector group for regularly visiting the bar on Home. Usually after a few Dorrillian Wines, he proceeds to tell the crew, to those who will listen anyway, about his wild and outrageous past. Midge is the leader of the Sarnikalon Resistance Force which is part of the Fakir Sector Force. This position has been created by Rebel Command to protect the interest of the Kaldrian people. Midge has held this position since the inception of the Fakir Sector Force. Midge is 85 years old, middle age for a Kaldra, and has some hairy tales. His favourite, only because he can get emotional, is the story of the creation of the Sarnikalon Resistance Force.

Midge is the son of the previous director of the Sarn planetary government. After serving under his father for many years, Midge decided to explore the galaxy. Upon his return home, Midge found that his Father had been killed, his mother and sister enslaved, and Kruxx Borg in the position of Supreme Director. Midge discovered that the Imperial presence on Sarnikalon had increased and a minor administrator in Dankwater Industries, Kruxx Borg, a long term associate and friend of Jorrel Dankwater, had schemed with the Empire to overthrow the Dankwater ruled government. The Empire had for many years shown an interest in the natural resources of Sarnikalon, but had been bogged down in legal Kadraaian bureaucracy. The Emperor knew that the Kaldra would resist if they were “bullied” into succumbing to the Empire’s wrath and so conversed with Borg to help claim office. Borg had agreed that the planet would benefit from the Empire’s rule.

Borg rapidly made his way up the company hierarchy by shadowy means to become Chief Sub-Director. On the night before Director Jorrel Dankwater was about to embark on a routine business trip off planet, Borg had Jorrel’s ship sabotaged. The next day, Jorrel’s ship was destroyed in a crash landing immediately after take-off. Although his body was never found, Jorrel was reported deceased.

Borg as Acting Director began patenting the Dankwater technology under his own name and began to make immense personal fortune by ignoring the Dankwater share-holders. When Belinda Dankwater, Midge’s sister objected, she was arrested on trumped up charges and placed in a high security prison. The Emperor introduced an Imperial Governor to assist Borg with the overthrow. Borg with his immense wealth, and by investing into the Empire to protect his own back, bought the title of Governor of Sarnikalon and assumed complete control of the planet.

The situation with Borg in charge was carefully monitored and controlled by Imperial High Colonel Flavious Glozelle and his assistant Lieutenant Chiron Drebbick of the ISB. The High Colonel kept in constant contact with the Emperor, even through the revolution on Sarn. What the Emperor didn’t know was that the information supplied by Glozelle was false. Lieutenant Drebbick attempted to make the Emperor aware of this, but was soon attended to by the High Colonel. About this time, Midge returned and took leadership of the Revolution which swept through Sarnikalon.

Borg renamed Dankwater Industries, “Borg Industries” and began taking on large Imperial contracts forcing the Kaldra to work long hours for minimal pay, pocketing for himself the massive profits. This kept the Imperials happy as the Kaldra were now under complete supervision and could no sympathise with the Rebellion. It also kept Borg in power. For his services, the Imperials provided an intelligence service and the help of an Imperial garrison stationed on Sarnikalon.

Dorrine Dankwater, Midge’s mother, rebelled against Borg. Borg, as a result, had Dorrine arrested and imprisoned in a slave camp. At her age she would probably die within a few months.

Borg had been hearing rumours that Midge has returned and was assisting in the Rebellion against his Government. As a consequence, Borg had taken a few precautions, hiring bounty hunters to hunt down Midge, tightening Sarnikalon security and surrounding himself with a group of professional bodyguards.

Midge was prominent in creating the Sarnikalon Resistance Force and helped with the correlation of its installment with the Fakir Sector Force.
